Yvonne L Anderson

Yvonne Linnette Anderson passed peacefully from this life the evening of June 23, 2020 at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family members during the last days of her life. Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Anderson and mother Lucille Anderson both of Kingston, Jamaica, brother, Morris Anderson of Spring Hill, Florida. Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Maxine Dallas McCarthy (Herman) Novelette Maxwell (Dean) Sharon Christina Gray Owens (Romell) Bridgette Gray, sons Godfrey Gray, Christopher Gray (Marcia) Patrick Gray sisters Palmalenia Whyne (Frank), granddaughters Nekeisha Brown McLean (Roy), Amanda Glover (Jason), Abigail Caine (Junior) Mariah Gray, grandsons, Rayan Gayle, Matthew Maxwell, Phillip Owens, Christopher Gray, Jr., Matthew Gray, Andrew Riddell (Hind) and Marley Gray, great granddaughters Nicole McLean, Rayeisha Gayle, Malika Gayle, Elena Glover, great grandsons Nicholas McLean, R. Jay McLean, and one great great granddaughter, Nyla Mclean. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces Melonie Harris (Phillip) Beverly Whyne, Denise Benjamin, Tracy Grimes (Keith) and nephew Duane Anderson (Angela) Shawn Whyne, great nieces Paula Benjamin, Jezel Grimes, great nephews Andrew Whyne, Jeremiah Whyne, Josiah Whyne, Elijah Harris, Isiah Harris, Thomas Anderson, Ryan Anderson and a host of other relatives and friends. Yvonne was born November 10, 1942 in Kingston, Jamaica. She attended Maverley Primary and Junior High School. Shortly after graduation, Yvonne moved to the United States. She became a licensed Certified Geriatric Nurse Assistant and worked in that position at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington in Rockville, Maryland from 1988 until 1999. From 1999 until 2011 she worked at the Rockville Nursing Home. Yvonne was a long-time member of The First Church of Seventh Day Adventist in Washington, DC. She later joined the Metropolitan Seventh Day Adventist Church which was closer to her home. She worked tirelessly and never wavered in her dedication to her family and her church. Yvonne made her presence known by accomplishments rather than noise with her "Let's get this done” attitude that she brought to all her endeavors. Yvonne was affectionately known by many other names including Cherry, Mother of Seven and Mother Dear. She loved music and she was one of Jamaica’s finest cooks. God picked another flower from his garden today, to transplant in heaven, to make up his bouquet, there to always blossom and never fade away. Yes, God picked another flower to transplant today.
