Theodore Thomas Brown Sr.

With humble hearts and enduring love, we celebrate the life of THEODORE THOMAS BROWN SR., a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, oldest and beloved brother, dedicated uncle, and faithful servant of God, he passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 19, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, Theodore was the cherished son of the late Booker Thomas Brown and late Jessie Lee Brown (Coleman). Theodore was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School, where he met the love of his life, Mrs. Naida Brown (Wilson). Their lifelong union became the foundation of a strong, devoted family. He also attended the Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) and the University of Baltimore. He was employed with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) from 1970 to 2000, where he was known as “Ted”. He worked faithfully until his retirement as a truck driver, after experiencing a heart attack. Family He is preceded in death by his niece Levi (also known as Tresa), great-nephew Shyhiem K. I. Owens, and brother-inlaw Mansefield Perkins. Theodore is survived by his loving wife, Naida Brown (Wilson), whom he affectionately called, “Dear”; his children, Candace (Candy) Martin (son-in-law, Lamont), Tonya Brown, Theodore Brown Jr., and Booker Brown (daughter-in-law, Theresa); and his mother-in-law, Catherine McCleod. He was the proud grandfather of Montria Martin, Makaria Martin, Aaliyah Robeson-El, Kowan Robeson-El Jr., Terrell Brown, Thomas Brown, Timothy Brown, Kayden RobesonEl, and Tyler Brown, all of whom lovingly called him “Grandad.” He also spent precious moments with his first great-grandchild, Nyier. He also leaves behind his aunt, Francis Alston; and his beloved siblings: sisters, Iris R. Brown, Nancy L. Hawkins (brother-in-law Nate), Rona A. Brown, and Constance A. Brown (BC), and brothers, Alan Y. Brown Sr. (sister-in-law Denise) and Hugh L. Brown, who all affectionately called him “Deal”. He was loved by a host of nieces and nephews. He also loved his brothers-in-law, Vernon Fisher, Anthony Muhummad, and Kimree Wilson, and sister-in-law, Andrea Wilson. His Life and Legacy Theodore’s greatest joy was his family. He was a true visionary, who made sure to purchase a home to raise his family. He enjoyed taking his family to church and delighted in gathering them together every summer for a two-week family vacation to Virginia Beach, creating decades of cherished memories. He was also an avid Baltimore Ravens fan and enjoyed watching Western shows, WWE Smackdown, attending church and watching the preaching of Pastor Donte Hickman Sr. of Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren, and neighbors how to drive. He also loved to cook and was well known for his signature cheese pies. Some of his favorite meals included crab cakes, turkey club sandwiches, chicken wings, and steaks. He also loved to shop online, and especially his trips to Walmart and Costco with his precious wife and mother-in-law. Theodore impacted many lives by making everyone he knows feel comfortable and seen by appreciating each person’s likes and hobbies. Faith & Church Life A faithful Christian throughout his life, Theodore was a long-time member of First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, later joining Brown’s Memorial Baptist Church. He eventually became a member of Empowerment Temple, and in recent years occasionally attended Faith Christian Fellowship World Outreach. His faith was quiet, strong, and unwavering reflected in the love he showed to his family and friends. Favorite Sayings: • “Good Gracious of Light!” • “What’s for dinner?” • “Yea right” • “Oh my goodness!” And we loved his unforgettable hearty laugh.
