Ruth Laverne Robinson

Ruth Laverne Robinson, affectionately known as “Shane / Laverne,” was born on March 5, 1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of Louis Crowder and a devoted wife to Elder Keith Robinson. Ruth was a loving mother to Dana Anthawn Smith and Chanel Chantel Graham, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 20, 2026, Ruth peacefully transitioned at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted husband. After a brief illness, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. To God be the glory. At a young age, Ruth moved with her family to Baltimore, Maryland, where she was raised in the Cherry Hill community. She attended Baltimore City Public Schools and was a proud member of the Southwestern High School band, where she played the clarinet. After graduating, she continued her education at Coppin State College, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Ruth built a meaningful and dedicated professional life. She worked for several banking institutions, including Provident Bank and Maryland National Bank. She later served as an auditor for Shoe City at their Woodlawn, Maryland headquarters for 15 years. In her later years, Ruth found great fulfillment working at Joy of Learning Daycare Center, where she lovingly cared for and educated infants and toddlers, helping to nurture their growth and development. Ruth’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was introduced to Christ at an early age by her grandmother and remained steadfast in her walk with the Lord. In 2010, she joined New Hope World Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Antonio Diaz Cotto. As a faithful and committed servant, Ruth attended services and Bible study regularly. She was elevated to Deaconess in 2016 and served in many roles, including the kitchen committee, Chairman Trustee, Sunday school teacher, and preacher of the Word. Ruth received her Diploma in Systematic Theology after 4-years of studying and graduated in 2023 from NHWM’s Basic Christian Theology. Her dedication never went unnoticed, and she received numerous awards for her service to the ministry including Citations from the Mayor of Baltimore City and Governor of the State of Maryland. Ruth had a joyful spirit and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved dancing, listening to music, cooking, reading, traveling, and helping those in need. She lived a life defined by quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and community. She shared forty-four beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Elder Keith Robinson. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and mutual respect. Their home was filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. Ruth will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and her ability to make everyone feel seen, loved, and valued. She gave selflessly, never seeking recognition, only the happiness and well-being of others. She leaves to cherish in her memory: her loving husband, Elder Keith Robinson; her mother, Louis Robinson; her son-in-law, Kevin Graham; her grandchildren, Zion and Zaria Graham, and Brittany Mable (Brandall Mable); her great-grandsons, Bryce and Barley Mable; her sisters, Judy Colman, Fontella Senter, and Dia Brock; her brothers, Steven Robinson, Norman Robinson and Craige Robinson (preceded her in death); along with a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Ruth Laverne Robinson (Shane) will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
