Rosa D Mann

Rosa Diane(Harris) Mann devoted daughter of the late Edgar P Harris, Jr. and Beatrice R. Harris departed this life on May 12, 2020. She was born on January 2, 1950 in Washington, DC. She was united in marriage to the late Edward T. Mann in Mitchellville, MD. Rosa also known as Penny to her family and close friends had a real love for life. She was an avid New England Patriot fan and loved to play cards. Bid Whist was her specialty. Rosa shares her love for cars with her late husband Ed and together they were members of the Metro Vette Club. Rosa loved to travel and traveled throughout the United States as well as other countries. She also loved music, dancing and entertaining. Rosa loved seafood and loved to shop. Most of all she loved a bargain and prided her self in being able to barter for a more reasonable price for herself and those with her. If she could not get the price she wanted she would say "leave it". Rosa loved laughter and told jokes to keep people laughing and was always ready to plan and execute events. Rosa was educated in the DC Public school system graduating from Calvin Coolidge Senior High in 1968 working several jobs before becoming secretary to the former mayor the late Walter E. Washington. She continued her career and served as an administrator for Gallaudet University where she served until she retired. Rosa was proficient in sign language and served as an administrator for admissions and for the Athletics Department. Rosa knew and loved the lord. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden serving on the hospitality ministry. She was baptized at Evangel Temple's Camp Adventure Land. She later accompanied her father the late Rev. Harris to his church Evangelistic Gospel Temple where she continued her love for God. Rosa is survived by her long time devoted friend Sherman Cook, her mother, Beatrice Harris, sisters Brenda Smith, Stephen(Linda), Apriece Harris, Darrell(Julia), Rene Harris, Denise Harris and Cassandra Harris, her son Gregory Long(Joia)her stepson Edward Mann(Tamara) and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
