Rodney Michael Nabinett, Sr.

Rodney Michael “Mike” Nabinett, Sr. was born on June 11, 1956, in Washington, DC, to the late Cecille Foster and John Ellis Nabinett, Sr. In God's calling him home, at the age of 69, he departed this life on November 22, 2025, at the Silver Spring Healthcare Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. Rodney was educated in the District of Columbia Public School system. At the young age of 20, he married his best friend, Virginia Nabinett, on August 28, 1976, and they shared 43 glorious years together. Rodney began working as a trackman for Conrail Corporation and the Washington Terminal (aka Amtrak Railroad Company). After serving 30 years of dedicated service, Rodney retired in the early 2000s. He later worked as a mechanic and helped family and friends with household repairs. Rodney loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and attending church with his wife & best friend, family, and friends. Rodney was the pillar of his family. He had a strong passion for working on cars and was known as the “go-to” man for help with family functions and activities. He loved his wife’s cooking and her famous sweet potato pies. His hobbies included reading his Bible, citing verses, traveling, and taking summer vacations with family and friends to Williamsburg, Virginia, calling family members to wish them happy holidays, talking on the phone with his family members, and, more importantly, going on daily mini dates to lunch with his wife, Virginia. Rodney is preceded in death by his loving wife & best friend, Virginia Nabinett, his mother, Cecille Foster, his mother-in-law, Pauline E. Nabinett aka “Ma Pauline,” sisters, Denise Nabinett and Kim Nabinett, brother, Demond Foster, grandson, Carlos Price, and uncle, James Nabinett, Sr. Rodney is survived by and to cherish his memory, his father, John E. Nabinett, Sr., his uncle, Joseph A. Nabinett, brothers; Guy Edward Foster and John E. Nabinett, Jr., sister, Yuneek E. Nabinett-Johnson (Wayne, Sr.), and his children, Crystal Price, LaShawn Gross, Michelle Williams (Darron), Sherron Greene (James F. Jr.), Ronnie Nabinett-Artis (Keith), and Rodney M. Nabinett, II (Denice), eighteen (18) grandchildren and twelve (12) great-grandchildren, his in-laws; Willie Powell, Sr., (Hattie), James Powell, Jr. (Deidra), Georgia Wilson (Clifford, Sr.), Bobby Powell, Sr. (Kattie), Jimmy Powell, Sr. (Harriet), Valerie Lenyear (James), Theresa Marrow (Mark, Sr.), Lavell Powell (Adrianne), best friend; “Big Shot” Hemsley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
