Janoise "Jill" Warren Inabinett

“JILL” INABINETT (NÉE WARREN), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away on February 10, 2025 at the age of 74. Born on April 5, 1950 in Ritter, South Carolina to James “Jim” and Margie “Tillie” Levant Warren, Jill’s life was defined by resilience, grace, and unwavering dedication to her family and ambitions. She was a proud graduate of Colleton High School in Walterboro, SC in 1968. Jill embarked on a journey that took her from South Carolina to New York City before ultimately making Baltimore, Maryland her home in 1969 while shortly after she became a mother to her one and only child Sonya. In 1970 she began her career in the insurance industry starting in the mail room at Sun Life Insurance Company. In September of 1982 she gained employment at The Baltimore Life Insurance Company. Through perseverance, intelligence, and determination, she overcame race and gender barriers, climbing the corporate ranks at Baltimore Life. Jill excelled in underwriting and later took on leadership roles, managing the supply and printing departments. Beyond her corporate achievements, Jill was an entrepreneur. In 2002, she and her husband Leroy became the proud owners of Warren House of Grace Assisted Living Home, providing care to those in need. She also managed a rental property (her first home she bought in Baltimore in 1975), building a lasting legacy of hard work and success. Jill had a strong faith in the Lord and became a faithful member of the New Christian Memorial Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Walter Bunson, Jr. in 1975 after moving into the Irvington Community. She was a faithful tithing member. She along with her husband Leroy and their great-granddaughter Cassidy continued attending until her health failed. We were blessed with her presence and love for the last seven years until the Lord God above called her home. Jill had a keen eye for beauty and elegance, always keeping herself well-dressed, her hair styled, and her nails done every two weeks. Even after suffering a stroke in 2018, which left her wheelchair-bound, her spirit remained unshaken. Her devoted husband, Leroy stood by her side, caring for her daily and ensuring she still enjoyed life—taking her on road trips, casino visits, and vacations, including their cherished timeshare in Orlando, Florida. A woman of many passions, Jill adored watching Westerns and the news, engaging in political discussions, traveling, and capturing memories through photography. She took pride in maintaining a beautiful home and car, always ensuring her surroundings reflected her refined taste. Jill’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Leroy Inabinett; her devoted daughter, Sonya Yvette Rice (Patrick); her cherished granddaughter, Caché Spencer; her adored great-granddaughter, Cassidy Patterson; and her four beloved sisters, Lillian Gelzer, Juanita Shorty (Lawrence), Gladys Warren, Jackie Doughty (Charles); beloved son-in-law, Thomas Cox; her in-laws, Willie Ray Murray (Mary), Benjamin Inabinett (Diane), Marlene “Donnie” McIlwaine (Wayne), Sylvia Lewis, Delores Todd (Moulton), Danny Ramsey, Cassandra “Freda” Grant, Mary Jones,Diane Tracey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Jill was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margie Warren; two sisters, Frances Galloway and Alma Matthews; and four brothers, Willie Pierce, John Henry, James Jr. and Sylvester Warren. .In honor of Our Beloved Jill, gifts may be directed to support the Stroke Recovery Fund at the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation (which supports staff research efforts, equipment needs, and educational opportunities that will benefit patients recovering from strokes at UM Rehab & Ortho).
