Edna Fleming

EDNA DONNELLA FLEMING, daughter of Lloyd Griffin and Minnie Arter was born on August 27, 1952, in Baltimore City, Maryland. Edna departed this life on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the age of 70 years old. Edna finished each stage of her early childhood K-12 education and graduated from Eastern High school in 1971. In the year 1972, Edna also received a certificate from Bay College & Business Institute in Business Administration. Eventually, she started working at Bethlehem Steel Baltimore in 1974 in the incentive department where she met a ton of new friends and the love the of her life Brunzo Earl Fleming. Edna and Earl made an instant connection and truly fell in love with each other. They had their first child Brandon Fleming in 1977 and eventually married in 1978. They later conceived their second child Summer Fleming in 1979. Edna later acquired a job working for Piper & Marbury, Baltimore, Maryland in 1986 working as a legal secretary/assistant. It was there Edna learned about the legal procedural process in corporate and family law with assisting with drafting, proofreading of contracts and agreements. Later, she went on to receive her Associate of Applied Science, Major Paralegal Program and graduated with high honors in May 1997. In that same year, Edna also started working as a Paralegal at the House of Ruth, a Domestic Violence Legal Clinic. It was there Edna performed case management and civil litigation, helping victims of domestic violence with their legal proceedings. Edna truly enjoyed working with this organization because it gave her a sense of fulfillment and she was able to share her gift and knowledge with families who really needed her help and guidance. Edna later took on another Paralegal position working for the Law Firm of Alison Velez Lane, LLC in Baltimore, Maryland in 1998. She worked with special projects for sole practitioner and assisted with civil litigation procedures. It was during that time that Edna was also in college and acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree Major in Business Administration and graduated in 2004. During the time she was working for the law firm and pursuing her degree, she was also helping to build a company founded with her husband called Fleming Transportation Corporation in 1992. It was there that Edna’s skills set in law and business management helped to elevate the 1st generation company that specialized in non-emergency medical transportation. Eventually, Edna parted ways with the law firm and worked for Fleming Transportation solely due to the demands of the company’s growth. Edna background, expertise, and training helped the company to expand, and she assisted with handling the day-to-day operations, coordination, and fulfilling contractual agreements to over 250 clients daily. Edna eventually became the COO, Chief Operating Officer of the company. Edna was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, relative, and friend to so many people. She was kind, smart, fun loving, full of life and excitement, plus she had a wonderful sense of humor, which we all adored. She was a second mom to many, and always encourage everyone to do their best and always shared her knowledge. Edna was a faithful Christian who truly believed in her Heavenly Father who she is with now. The remanent of Edna’s light, energy, love, and spirit will forever be a part of anyone she has touch with her presence in their lives. We were truly blessed to encounter her during her journey here. She leaves to mourn: her husband and best friend, B. Earl Fleming; daughter and dear friend Summer Fleming; granddaughter Meadow Dorsey; grandson Dylan Dorsey; sisters Gloria Griffin and Velma Washington; brothers Roddy Gayman, Bobby and Donnell Griffin; brother in laws, sister in laws, cousins, relatives, and numerous special friends. Special mentions for Brandon Fleming (son) and Prince Charming (family dog) who both pre-deceased her December 2020 & December 2022.
