Clara Virginia Harrison

Clara Virginia White Harrison, affectionately known as “Gin” was born September 30, 1938 in Botetourt County, Virginia to the late Tennissea and Clara T. White. Gin was called home by the Almighty and wise God peacefully on Friday July 10th at 2:05 a.m. after a courageous fight. Gin was educated in the D.C. Public School System. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Bernard Harrison who proceeded her in death, with whom six children were born. She was a Baptist and attended Springfield Baptist Church for many years. Gin worked at a few establishments, but she spent many years at St. Elizabeth Hospital until she retired. Even after retirement, she decided to go back to work at Hattie Holmes Senior Wellness Center in D.C, She would say “I love to work with my seniors” as if she wasn’t a senior. Gin was a very special woman, a happy spirit and kind person. She was also “no nonsense “and she told it like it was. She was a hard working woman and she instilled these values in her children. She touched many lives even with people whom she would meet for the first time. She loved music and loved to dance. From her hospital bed she said “I’m going to get out of here and come home and do the James Brown.” She once went to a function and one of her favorite songs came on “The Booty Call” don’t you know she was up on the dance floor dancing all by herself. She enjoyed going to concerts, plays and other events. She also enjoyed family gatherings and family game nights. Gin was our light, our rock, our everything and she will always be our light, our rock, our everything. Only she will be doing it in the heavens above. She will be truly missed by her loved ones and friends. Predeceased by her parents, one brother William White (Bud) and her son Randy, Gin leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Glenndora Harrison, Barbara Blount (Timothy), Sheila Borgus (Archie), two sons; M. Tyrone Harrison, Curtis Harrison, one sister-in-law: Estella Miller, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one special nephew Robert Anthony Harrison. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
