In Loving Memory of Barbara Arlene Tucker May 6, 1942 – January 15, 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Arlene Tucker, a beloved matriarch, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Barbara, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. Born on May 6, 1942, in Jersey City, NJ, she was a woman whose life was defined by love, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Barbara was the cherished wife of Robert “Bobby” Tucker for 64 years, and together they raised eight children: William (Nancy) Tucker, Robert (Cynthia Edmunds) Tucker, Donna Jackson, Jason (Dajuan) Tucker, Dahrnel (Kimberly) Tucker, Michael (Lisa) Tucker, Tamara Tucker-Morris, and Alisha (Donte) Johnson. Her 40+ grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and her nurturing spirit will be forever remembered by them. She is also survived by her siblings, Rhoda Mann, Brenda (James) Felton, and John Slater. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William Slater and Joan Mazza, her brothers Dennis and Harvey Slater, and several loved ones, including her son-in-law Robert Morris and grandson Thomas Jones. Barbara’s life was dedicated to both family and hard work. She helped her husband build their family business, Carefree Maintenance, and later worked for many years at Western Electric. In her later years, she became a tax expert, assisting her family and clients with their tax preparations. However, her true gift was her ability to bring people together—her home was always a place of warmth, love, and laughter. Barbara’s hands were never still, whether she was crocheting blankets for her loved ones or shopping for the latest gadgets. She also enjoyed spending time at the casino, especially playing the slots, and loved to gather with family to share meals and stories. Barbara’s legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous spirit. A service will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Barbara’s memory. Rest in peace, Barbara. You will forever be the heart of our family.
