Antoinette Corbin-Taylor

On Friday, September 29, 2023, Antoinette Corbin-Taylor transitioned to be with the Lord, with her beloved husband of forty-five years, Teddy by her side. Born on March 20th, 1955, to Thomas and Mildred Corbin(deceased). Antoinette was raised in southwest Washington DC and attended the DC public schools. She was baptized at the Friendship Baptist Church where she would later be married. Antoinette enrolled at Catholic University following graduation from Western High School (now Duke Ellington). At Catholic she excelled academically and was active in campus life. She was Initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., on February 11, 1975, and became the first female president of the Black Student Organization of Catholic University. It was during her senior year at Catholic she was introduced to and began to date the eventual love of her life, Teddy. Antoinette attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin before marrying Teddy in June of 1978. She would not complete her graduate studies, preferring to accompany Teddy to his first foreign service assignment in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Over the next forty years, they lived, and worked in Latin America, Europe, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and Africa as US diplomats with the US Department of State. She would later join the foreign service in 1998 and enjoyed great success in human resource management until her retirement in 2019. Their union would produce two children Tina Blair and Ashton (deceased) who also experienced the benefits of international living. Antoinette insisted the family make the Alfred Street Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia their church home in the mid 1980s. She served as a tutor in the early 2000s and was a member of Discipleship Group 30 and the “Love Train” Village. A devoted spouse, mother, sister, aunt, great, friend and mentor, Antoinette valued family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mildred Corbin, siblings, Ernestine, Amaury and Tammy, and son Ashton. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Teddy Taylor, daughter Tina Blair Taylor, brother Tyrone Corbin, brother Jeffrey Corbin, Sr., sister in laws, Beverley Corbin, Patricia Corbin, Alycia Taylor, brother-in law Terri Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
