Warren Glass

On Thursday, March 24, 2022, with his loving wife Vivian by his side, Warren Curtis Glass transitioned peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior. Our Lord called Warren home after courageously battling cancer for nearly three and a half years. Warren was born on May 10, 1948 in Halifax, Virginia to the late Warren Hardin Glass and Fannie Myrtle Glass. As the first born and only boy among three sisters, Peggy, Glenda and Jacqueline, Warren was greatly favored by his family. At an early age, Warren accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. As the years passed, desiring to grow in his faith and Christian walk, Warren became an active member of the New Psalmist Baptist Church family and remained faithful until his passing. Affectionately known as “Dub” and “WC,” Warren completed his early education in the Baltimore City Public School System followed by enrolling at Morgan State University as a history major. It was at a social activity at Morgan State that Warren met the love of his life, Vivian O. Gasque. The couple fell in love and married on November 30, 1970. This union was blessed with two devoted sons, Warren Christopher and Marc Curtis. Warren was a loving family man, always providing examples and support for all family members. His family motto was “the Glass family was a square and if one person failed to carry their weight, it put more pressure on the others—but he would be there to help.” Warren was a very social person. He had close friends at work and in the community. He met his best friends however, Frank Edmonds, Gerry Grant, Joseph Haskins, Jr., and Godfrey Streat as a child and maintained a long and close relationship with them throughout this life. These five friends enjoyed their childhood and truly had fun, growing into manhood and excelling in their respective careers. He was especially close with Godfrey and Gloria Streat and was godfather to their sons, Geoffrey and Geordon, as Godfrey is godfather to Warren and Marc. Warren was a hard worker and dedicated to his profession. His work ethic was outstanding, resulting in recognition and numerous awards. After a 35-year career with the United States Postal Service, starting as a clerk, Warren retired as Senior Manager of Operations. After retirement from the Post Office, his passion for logistics continued into his second career at the Baltimore City Public School system. He was blessed to do what he knew and understood, the processing and operation of the mail division as a manager. He met many friends who became part of his extended family. He later retired from serving Baltimore City Public Schools after many years of service. Warren was warm and social, making friends everywhere he went. His exceptional sense of humor often came to life in pranks and practical jokes. Everyone was fair game, especially those close to him. Warren enjoyed many things, but spending time with family and friends was most important to him. He enjoyed backyard grilling and hosting get-togethers, ensuring all his guests were full and satisfied. He especially loved hosting when his favorite teams, the Ravens and Orioles, were playing. Though those were his favorite teams, the running joke in the family was that he cheered on any team with a winning season, except for any team that LeBron James was on. An avid Baltimore Sun reader, he could update you on any local current event and loved keeping up with local high school basketball. He could also give you great advice on achieving a lush, green lawn, like his own which he maintained with pride. Warren also enjoyed gardening, fishing and purchasing the latest gadgets. Warren leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Vivian; sons Warren (Tisha) and Marc; three sisters, Peggy, Glenda (Artis) and Jacqueline (Alfred); two grandchildren Sydney and Kendall; four nieces, Shawn, Tia, Kelli and Brittany; six nephews, Troy, Cleveland II, James III, Travis, Jonathan, and Jeffrey; god-children, Geoffrey, Geordon and Kendall; close family friend, Erica, and a host of cousins and friends. To honor Warren’s memory, the Glass family will always carry on his legacy of strong family values, faith, true friendship and love.
