Maxine Boyd Faulkner was born April 26, 1933, in Washington DC to the late McKenzie Boyd and Mathilde Moxley Boyd. She enjoyed her loving relationship with late stepsister, Dorothy Boyd Bailey. At early age, she dedicated her life to God; exploring my ministries to strengthen her faith, singing in numerous choirs and fulfilled her dream of a pilgrimage to Israel. Maxine attended DC Public Schools excelling in her studies. A hallmark of student career was attaining the rank and leadership of Lt. Colonel of the Girls Cadet Corp in 1950 at Armstrong High School. She continued her education obtaining a B.S. at Miner Teachers College and M.S. in education at Federal City College- all now the University of the District of Columbia. She taught in DC Public Schools for over 33 years, retiring August of 1988. Maxine taught thousands of children to read and write. On August 14, 1954, Maxine married the love of her life, Junie and from this union, Vernita Faulkner, Yvette Davis, and Ava Lucas were born. God blessed Maxine had many talents and she used her creative hands to design and bake lavish eloquent cakes for weddings and special events. She was skilled in drawing and sketching, mastered many classical pieces on the piano and thoroughly enjoyed traveling. Maxine possessed a quiet, gentle spirit always seeking to learn and discover new experiences, people and places. Maxine B. Faulkner passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
