Martin B. Brown

On March 18, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom, called Martin Bernard Brown home to his eternal rest. Martin, affectionately known to family members as Bobby, was born September 6, 1951. He was the oldest child born to the late Ernest Barnes and Edith Brown. Martin attended Morgan State College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1975. Martin continued his educational pursuits and later obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1979. Martin was employed with Maryland State Government Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services from 1976 through 1983. He resigned from the State government to start his law firm. Martin ran a successful law practice for many years managing civil and criminal cases. Martin often did pro bono work for family and friends. He was also a mentor and encourager for young people interested in pursuing a profession in law. He was actively involved in political and legal organizations and activities. Martin married Karen Stansbury on June 22, 1996. Karen went to her heavenly home on January 18, 2001. Martin remained a loving member of the Stansbury family and delighted in fellowshipping with his in-laws. Martin enjoyed many special occasions with his son Quinton and daughter Kayla; and he was very proud of his grandchildren. A momentous occasion for him was walking Kayla down the aisle and giving her hand in marriage to his son-in-love, Justin Wilson. Martin liked to travel visiting several countries in Europe, Spain, and Africa. He enjoyed sharing stories of his travels and collected many memorabilia from favorite destinations. He was an avid reader and collector of jazz music. Martin later met his significant other, Ms. Anita Ford, who ultimately became his loving caregiver. They enjoyed many special times together and loved entertaining family and friends at their home. The most recent special gathering was celebrating the Super Bowl at his brother’s home with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Michael Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving companion, Ms. Anita Ford; son Quinton Brown; daughter Kayla Wilson (Justin); two brothers, Withers Cannon and Damien Brown; grandchildren Quinton Brown Jr., Kiara Brown, Rickia Brown, Quincy Brown, and Qumari Brown; godson Everett Hackett; goddaughter Sandy; the Stansbury family; Ms. Peggy Day, a great friend and co-worker and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
