Remembering Louise “Precious in the sight of the lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15 Peace and joy came to Martha Louise Thompson on November 20, 2010 as she ended her earthly pilgrimage after a lengthy illness. She suffered long, but with a smile she knew in her heart that GOD was patiently waiting for her. God wanted her so He set her FREE! Martha, lovingly known as “Louise”, was the daughter of the late John Henry Freeman and Essie Wansley Freeman, was born in Franklin County, GA, she was the 7th of 12 children. On January 9, 1941, Louie was united in marriage to Horace Lee Thompson. This union was blessed with two sons, Joe Merriell and Horace, Jr. After several years of marriage, they moved to Washington, DC to pursue a better and more prosperous life. Louise was preceded in death by her son, Horace, Jr., and her husband, Horace. Louise received her education in Georgia. She was a happy and loving homemaker who worked beside her husband as he pursued his career as a “dry wall contractor”. She worked for a number of years in a prominent Silver Spring funeral home. She loved life, good food, beautiful flowers, her family, but she loved GOD more! She also loved to cook, eat and entertain her family! Louise gave her life to GOD as a child at her home church in Carnesville, GA, and continued her love affair with the Lord when she and Horace moved to Washington, DC and later to Baltimore, MD. She joined St. Mark United Methodist Church in Baltimore, MD. After the death of her husband in 1999, she moved from Baltimore to Silver Spring, MD to live with her son Joe and his wife Carstine. She later moved her membership to New Redeemer Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and loyal member until her death. She loved her church and worked faithfully behind the scenes as a Missionary and in other areas of the Church as needed. She was loved and appreciated by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted son, Joe and his wife Carstine; three sisters, Ruby Freeman of Southfield, MI, Nellie Martin of Tocca, GA and Elvira Martin of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Cynthia, Marsha, Anthony “Tony”, Joseph Maurice “Joey”, Serita and Christina Jill; two special sisters-in-Christ, Mary Thorpe and Phyllis Mathews; a special son-in-Christ, Eugene Burch; a stepdaughter, Monica, and her family from Germany, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
