Magalene Lee Bowling On December 17, 2021, Magalene Bowling, entered into eternal rest. Magalene was born August 23, 1930 in Greensboro, NC to Theresa Mae and Daniel Lawson Lee, Sr. She graduated from NC A&T State University, where she met and married the love of her life, Wiley Bowling, Jr. They had two children, Mark and Joyce. Magalene spent the majority of her career as a teacher in the Milford, CT public schools, and later ran a training program at the YWCA for homemakers entering the workforce. After her retirement, Magalene and Wiley moved to Bowie, MD. Throughout her life, Magalene was active in her church, her college alumni association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and the Links, Inc. She was also passionate about improving educational opportunities in her community and promoting financial literacy, and was an avid bridge player and international traveler. Magalene is survived by her husband, daughter Joyce, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1510 9th St, NW, Washington, DC 2001.Viewing will be from 11:30-1 pm, and the Homegoing Celebration will be at 1 PM. Private interment will take place at Cheltenham Cemetary at a later date. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the NC A&T Foundation, and sent to The Advancement Office, NCA&T State University, 1601 E. Market St, Greensboro, NC 27411.
