Linda Y. Moore

LINDA YVETTE MOORE, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 2, 2024 at the age of 74. Linda, affectionately known as Lynn, was born on June 9, 1949, in Durham, North Carolina. Linda was the cherished daughter of the late Monroe and Willie Mae Bell. From an early age, Linda dedicated her life to Christ, embodying faith and kindness in all her endeavors. Linda was a proud graduate of the 1969 class of Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, MD. Linda loved to play sports in school and was active and met many lifelong friends during that time. Linda loved life, had a giving heart and enjoyed helping others. She started her career in the field of healthcare and met her future husband, Leon E. Moore, at Dukeland Nursing Home. The two lovebirds instantly connected and later married on May 29, 1971. Together, they welcomed three children into the world: Lisa, Lauren, and Leon Jr. Linda’s professional journey continued in the healthcare field, where she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and phlebotomist. Her friends and family often referred to her affectionately as “Dr. Moore,without the license”. Linda was renowned for her compassionate care and sage advice. She touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity. Beyond her professional pursuits, Linda was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in cooking, crocheting, dancing, singing, and the art of floral arrangements. Her entrepreneurial spirit flourished with the establishment of Lynn’s Lasting Memories, a floral business where she created beautiful corsages and arrangements for proms and special occasions. Linda’s greatest treasures were her love of God, family and friends. She shared a special bond with her son-in-law Vern Brown Jr. and delighted in the company of her granddaughters, Alaina and Sydney Brown. Linda’s home was always open and she enjoyed welcoming and spending time with her neighbors and loved ones alike. Known for her direct honesty and infectious personality, Linda made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She cherished her siblings and reveled in moments of dance, talking, and laughter with each of them. Her presence illuminated every gathering, and her memory will continue to do so for years to come. In addition to her parents, Linda is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Leon E. Moore Sr., daughter Lauren Moore, and son Leon E. Moore Jr. Linda leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Lisa Brown; son-in-law, Vern Brown Jr.; granddaughters, Alaina & Sydney Brown; James and Jasmine Hamilton; her sisters, Gloria Stokes, Sandra Coleman, Deborah Long (Tim), and Carolyn Cook; her brothers, Nolan Bell (Sharon), Paul Bell, Kenneth Stokes; sisters-in-law, Patricia Bell and Rosalyn Bell; uncles, Jim Goods and James Genwright; and a host of other relatives and friends. While she will be deeply missed, Linda’s legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
