Dr. LeRoy Adams

November 13, 1935 - May 5, 2022

On the evening of May 5, 2022, Dr. LeRoy Adams, Ed.D, of Suitland, Maryland, departed this earthly life at the age of 86. LeRoy Adams was born to Henry C. Adams, Sr. and Lurlee Adams in 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was raised in Gary, Indiana with his 5 siblings. LeRoy was married to his loving and supportive wife, Gloria, for 55 years and together, they raised two daughters Acquanetta and Glori. Dr. Adams was a busy man, reaching major milestones and achievements, in his life. A few of those achievements included: earning a Doctorate degree, at George Washington University, in Washington, DC and serving 23 years in the United States Army Reserve and retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3). Dr. Adams spent 32 years in the DC public school system as an Educator and as an Assistant Principal. He made advancements in his career by becoming a professor and eventually the Registrar of Norfolk State University. All these achievements were accomplished while taking excellent care of his family. Dr. Adams is preceded in death by his father, Henry Sr., his mother Lurlee, siblings, Thelma, Lionel, Henry Jr. “Hank”, John and Lonnie. He is survived by his wife Gloria, 2 children Acquanetta and Glori Adams, grandson Marcus (Kadesia) Adams, great-grandchildren Manari and Miran Adams, sister Acquanetta “Butzi” (Roy) Thomas, brother Velton (Dorothy) Hines and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Dr. LeRoy Adams will be honored in a committal service and burial at a Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:15 am.
