Kevin Lamont McLean

God has a magnificent way of spreading His treasures throughout His universe. On Thursday, December 8, 2005, God dispatched an Angel of Mercy to quietly escort Kevin Lamont McLean into the heavenly realm of eternal peace and rest. Kevin was born on July 7, 1962 in Washington, DC to the late John Dixon and Barbara Jean Johnson McLean. As a young boy he developed a special love for his foster mother, the late Martha Nickens who loved and nurtured him as if he were her own son. He was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and attended North Carolina Central University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and pledged Alpha-Phi- Alpha Fraternity. He was also a member of the Prince Hall Masons. He continued his education at Bowie State University where he earned his Masters Degree in Education Administration and Supervision. Kevin had a fond love for tractor trailers and took a two-year hiatus from teaching to drive across the country. Kevin accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. In 1998 he joined First Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He loved being in the house of the Lord. For fifteen years Kevin served as a teacher in the District of Columbia , Prince Georges and Montgomery County school systems. For the last three years he served as an administrator for the Montgomery County School System, and most recently as an Assistant Principal at Magruder High School, where he developed a special bond with the Magruder family. Kevin possessed a special love for everyone with whom he came in contact. He was a people person who was loved by all, especially children with whom he enjoyed working. He was a fun-loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. You would very seldom see him without a smile. He was always willing to help and would go that extra mile. Kevin touched many lives and enjoyed life to the fullest. Kevin was an avid sports lover and coached the girls basketball teams at the high school and AAU levels. He leaves to cherish his warm and loving memories six brothers and sisters, Kenneth Nichols Queenie, Linda Dyson, John McLean III, Dwayne McLean Tameisha, Robin Cooper and Melvin McLean; seven aunts and uncles, Blanch Smith Thomas, Bessie McLean, Gloria Robinson, Iwo Fairrow James, Ethel Blaine, George Johnson, Jr. Carolyn and Michael Johnson; one great-aunt, Florence Raiford and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. ********************************************************************** Dear Kevin, We will always love you and even though we know that you are at peace with your God whom you love so very much.
