Denise R. Williams

Denise Renee Williams, a beloved aunt, sister, and friend, was born on April 19, 1961, and raised in Kansas City, Kansas by her loving parents, the late Lilburn Dudley Williams and Ella Mae Williams-Kirkpatrick. As the youngest member of her family, she is proceeded in death by her parents and three eldest siblings, Janet Elaine Smyre, Lynda Diane Marcelli, and Lilburn Dudley Williams III. Denise graduated class of 1979 from Serramonte High School in Dale City, California. She later moved to San Francisco, California with her mother and sisters enjoying the laid-back nature of the west coast. Denise then moved to Hawaii, following her military brother, Lilburn, where she worked as a 911 operator and embraced the island life, especially her love for the ocean and finding her independence. Denise finally moved to the east coast and made the greater Washington, D.C. area her home. Early on, she worked as a dispatcher for the U.S. Park Police in Greenbelt, MD and most recently as an executive administrator at the Federal Reserve Board, where she ultimately retired in 2020 after 12 years of dedicated service. She loved the open water so much so, that her final home was settled on Solomon’s Island in Maryland overlooking the serene Patuxent River. There was never a dull moment with Denise as she truly was the life of the party. Although she did not have children of her own, to her many nieces and nephews, Aunt Denise was the “fun aunt,” and she lived up to every facet of a good time. Her humor and bright personality filled any room she entered, and laughter was always guaranteed. Denise had a deep passion for cooking and was always thrilled to experiment with new recipes in her “test kitchen." She loved traveling, collecting dolphins, and was an enthusiastic dog lover. Most recently, she joined the Encore Choral of Southern Maryland, where the group performed ensembles at various locales in surrounding areas of Southern Maryland. Her adventurous spirit and warm heart touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Denise's life ended peacefully and in the presence of her loving family on the evening of December 2, 2024. She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews by her eldest sister Janet Smyre and brother-in-law Roger Smyre; Matthew Smyre, Nicholas Smyre, Miranda Smyre, Natalie Smyre, nieces from her brother, Lilburn D. Williams III and sister-in-law Joanne Sloane; Tyais Rivas, Chantee Williams El Jean Francois, Gabriella George, and a niece by her sister Lynda Marcelli; Monica Marcelli, along with a host of great nieces and nephews, beloved friends and extended family.
