Annie Virginia Knight

OBITUARY (ANNIE V. KNIGHT) Annie Virginia Knight was born on October 26, 1920 at 402 Jackson Street in Richmond, VA to the late Louis B. and Mary Smith Carter. She was the middle child of 10 children. Annie was called home at the ripe age of 98 years old on November 13, 2018 while residing at Crescent Cities Center in Riverdale, MD. Annie joined the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Richmond, VA and accepted the Lord in her life at the age of 12 years old. She moved to the Baltimore area in the 1930’s where she was educated in the Baltimore Public School System. In 1936 she met her late husband Solomon R. Banks. They had a son together the late Theodore M. Banks who preceded her in death. Annie moved to Washington, DC in 1943 where she met and remarried her late husband William Knight in 1945. During her time in Washington, DC Annie worked as a Manager for Housekeeping at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC where she retired in 1970. In 1979 she became an active member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church which was located in Washington, DC which is now located on Bladensburg RD. in Mt. Rainier, MD. Annie enjoyed crocheting and was a huge Orioles baseball fan. She also loved listening to Joel Osteen preaching of Lakewood Church every Sunday. She loved the Lord and was an advocate reader of the Bible. Being a lefty brought out her winning smile and beautiful personality everyone loved and adored. Annie leaves to cherish in her loving memory a half-brother and sister: James and Lois Carter of Philadelphia, PA; A granddaughter – LaShaun D. Harris; 3 great grandsons – Keith, Kevin and Kevon Harris of Washington, DC; 1 niece - Marilyn D. Beaton of Philadelphia, PA, 1 nephew – Keith W. Beaton of New York, NY; 2 great nieces – Shiryl T. and Naomi K. White of Texas; 1 cousin – Theodore Carter of Harrisburg, PA and a host of family and friends. Annie is preceded in death by her son-Theodore M. Banks; brothers and sisters – Foster Fairbanks Carter, Lewis Braxton Carter, Jr., Theodore Milton Carter, L. Odessa Carter, Evelyn M. Carter; nephews and nieces- George E. Beaton, Don T. Beaton, Gregory A. Beaton, Emily Carter; cousins – Raymond Carter, Donald Carter. ANNIE V. KNIGHT (HER PERSONAL VERSION OF 23RD PSALM) “THE LORD WATCHES OVER ME. I DO NOT SUFFER FOR LACK OF NEED. HE LEADETH ME IN ALL GOOD THINGS. HE LEADETH ME THROUGH ALL DANGER. HE RESTORETH MY SOUL. HE LEADETH ME ON THE RIGHT PATH. ALTHOUGH I WALK THROUGH SICKNESS AND SORROW. I WILL FEAR NO EVIL FOR HE IS WITH ME. HE PROTECTS AND COMFORTS ME ALL THE WAY.
