Albert Laws

Albert Laws beloved son of the late Viree D. Wilson and Sammie Toney was born December. 11, 1953 in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed this life suddenly and peacefully on January 15, 2023. Albert graduated from Southern High School; he attended Towson State College on a basketball scholarship. He began his career at Montgomery Wards in 1972, as a stock clerk. He continued his career as an Associate at MD State Unemployment office for over 15 years, He held several jobs throughout his lifetime in 2015 he retired as a Journeyman Carpentar form Local #401. "Boot" as he was affectionately known always described himself as " A South Baltimore Boy." He had a gift for playing basketball. In his youth Boot played basketball for the Lions Club. "AL", another nick name had a one of the smoothest styles of walking, he had "pure swag". He had a great love for clothes and an eye for style. and could make a suit talk. He was an aficionado of hats and tennis and while neatness and simplicity was his style choice, he had a meticulous and clean approach when it came to his surroundings. Because of his great love for music, he accumulated a large collection of albums, tapes and cd's that he cherished. He was also known to tear up a dance floor or two. He loved watching sports especially his favorite team the Baltimore RAVENS! Later, In the years Al met Glenda the love of his life, while employed at the MD State Unemployment office. On September 23, 2006, they were united in marriage a bond that could never be broken, their home was a place for many family gatherings. They blended their families, enjoyed traveling, and vacationing with their grandchildren making memories on purpose. Al was truly the greatest gift ever given. WE Thank God for lending him to us and he will be greatly missed. Al has been reunited with his parents Viree and Sammie Toney his brother, Alphonso Wilson; aunts, Mary Tarleton and Corine Scott; uncles, Junior Boone and Fred Laws; brothers-in-law, Mark Bynum and John Britt. He leaves to cherish memories his devoted loving wife, Glenda Laws; beloved daughters, Shawnta, Dalonya Laws, Tyra Gaither (James), and Bridgette Beckett; son, Tashawn Hamlett; Grandchildren, Donnell Turner, Chiquanta Gaither, ChyAsia Smith, Cierra Ross, James Gaither, Jr. Lamont Smith, Raven Rose, Shade, Shawana, Shaquel, Shmaya, Skky Beckett, Milimi, Taehean, Tasia, Tayon, Tamon Hamlett, sister, Vanessa Britt; Mother-in-Law Janet Pettaway; sister in laws, Lisette Hanna and Veronica Bynum; nephews Jamaal Griffin and Corey Scriber; nieces, La'Asia Howard, Nakia and Latonya Bynum, Great nephews, Jamaal Griffin, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.
