Vivian M. Carney

Vivian Maynetta Carney, was called home to rest on Friday, October 6, 2006. She was born to the late Richard and Nettie Brogsdale in Washington, DC on October 4, 1911. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell King Carney, sister, Edwina Burton and brother, Richard M. Brogsdale. Vivian was educated in the Boston, Massachusetts school system. After high school, Vivian moved to New York City where she met her husband, Wendell. She worked for Macy?s Department Store for over thirty years before retiring in 1976. She was an active member of Victory Baptist Church, Bronx, New York and she was recognized on October 30, 2005 for being a member of Victory Baptist for fifty years. Auntie loved her family - she never forgot a birthday, especially those singing telegrams that we got, and you almost believed that it really WAS THE REAL WESTERN UNION. She was never without a CAMERA and she had pictures from everywhere. Auntie loved to travel and after retirement became a globe trotter, going on countless vacations, just having a great time, developing friendships with a myriad of individuals around the world. She was a loyal friend and a very helpful Christian woman, always there to lend a hand wherever she was needed. Auntie loved to dance and in her later years joined a tap group which she enjoyed weekly until, in her late eighties, she was no longer able to perform. She loved, ?HAM, TEA AND JACK DANIELS?. IF SHE WAS A VISITOR AT YOUR HOME, THESE THINGS YOU MUST HAVE FOR HER. Vivian leaves to cherish her memory: Donald Brogsdale, Shirley Marshall, Yvonne Kelly John, Reginald Brogsdale, Barbara Jean Rhodes, Wendell Brogsdale Tina, Saundra Evans, Richard Brogsdale Gloria, Seaton L. Burton and many other grand/great nieces and nephews; a godson, Harold Dow; a special ?daughter?, Louise Moore; her special cousins, Lillian Burke, Priceton D. Simms Evelyn, Marie and Stephanie Anderson and Anita Douglas Fred; her lifelong friends, Minnie Armstead, Evelyn Dow, Fran Virgil and Bell Wilson and other relatives, extended families and friends.
