Venable Sylvester Scott

Venable Sylvester Scott, affectionately known as "Scotty" or "Butch," was born on a warm summer evening, Friday, August 11, 1950, at 5:32 PM, to the late Venable B. Scott and Ida L. Scott. On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Venable was suddenly and unexpectedly called to glory, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. God needed another magnificent spirit, and Venable answered the call. A proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Class of 1968), Venable often shared fond memories of his alma mater. Shortly after high school, he began his career at Black & Decker as a draftsman and engineer, showcasing his remarkable intellect and talent for numbers. However, Venable later found his true calling in Information Technology, a field in which he excelled. Ever dedicated, he balanced full-time work while furthering his education at Baltimore Community College, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Baltimore earning his Bachelor of Science degree. In the summer of 1983, Scotty met the love of his life and best friend, Peggy, affectionately known as Pam. Their love story began when he saw her stepping out of her red Camaro in a striking red dress with a split, a moment he never forgot. They were joined together in holy matrimony on August 3, 1985. During their forty-one beautiful years together and thirty-nine years married, they traveled the world and created cherished memories with family and friends. Scotty and Pam still enjoyed weekly date nights where he could show off his sharp style of dress that would always match each other. Venable's passions extended far beyond his career and family. He had a lifelong love for music, especially R&B, and a passion for dancing that led him to appear on the iconic Buddy Deane Show as a teenager. A dedicated bowler for over 40 years, he later found joy and relaxation in running, participating in 5K and 10K races to support charitable causes. In his fifties, Venable discovered his love for martial arts, achieving the rank of fifth-degree black belt in Goju Ryu and first-degree black belt in Okinawan Kobudo. Teaching and performing martial arts brought him immense joy, especially when working with children. A man of deep faith, Venable accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior early in life. He served as an usher at First Christ Baptist Church and sang with the First Christ Tabernacle Choir, contributing to their CD, Heaven, and performing in several concerts during the late 1990s. Venable lived life with positivity, courage, and a radiant smile that brightened every room he entered. He was a source of encouragement, love, and support to all who knew him, embodying a life of joy and faith. Venable is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Peggy; sons Kelvyn Scott, Leonte’ Christian; sister Martha Mason; daughter-in-love Yolonda Christian; grandchildren Raynell, Rashad, Aliyah, Leah Christian, Malik, Deontae Koon; sister-in-law Mary Norris; brothers-in-laws Willie (Peggy) Moody, Steven (Mary) Moody; and a host of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family. He also leaves behind cherished brothers by love Stanley Lawrence, Rudolph Penn, and Joseph Currin, as well as sisters by love Rosalind Lawrence and Diane Penn.
