Stevie L. Brown

Stevie Lamonte Brown, A Beloved Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Colleague, and Friend, passed away surrounded by deep love. Born in Northeast Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1970, to Cleveland Brown and Annie P. Moore, Stevie lived a life defined by joy, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to others. Baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Stevie’s faith, was a guiding light throughout his life. Stevie began his career at AFSCME as a General Office Clerk in the Administration Department. His exceptional skills and passion for technology led him to the Information Technology Department, where he eventually rose to a management position. Over his 31 years of service, Stevie became a cornerstone of the organization—known for his enthusiasm, warmth, and unique ability to bring people together. He was deeply involved with the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU), frequently providing IT support at CBTU conferences and events. Through this work, Stevie helped strengthen and sustain the organization’s vital mission and enduring legacy. Stevie lived by the motto “work hard and play hard,” a philosophy he fully embraced. He put his best foot forward in every endeavor and celebrated life’s joys with equal passion. He loved bowling, cooking for his family, and being the life of the party. Stevie was the glue in many friendships— A Man whose laughter, generosity, and presence lit up every room. Stevie Brown was preceded in death by His Father, Cleveland Brown; His Mother, Annie P. Moore, His Brother, Freddie Moore, Eboni Lee (Damon's Wife and Derek's Godmother), and Al Law (Velma Husband). He is survived by his Wife, Michelle Foisy; His Sons, Derek Brown (Wife, Alastair Brown / Mother, Nina Crawford) and Derrin Brown (Mother, Nina Crawford); His Grandchildren, Derek Brown Jr. and Zander Brown; His Sisters, Velma Law and Denise Thomas (Larry Thomas); His Nieces and Nephews— Damon, who also served as godfather to Derek; Justin Law; Jevon Thomas (Vaneesha); Kionne Thomas; and Andrea Moore (Ronnie Moore), and Great Nieces and Nephews — Deizah, Kierra, Danyelle, Zekiah, Kamren. He is also survived by his cherished dogs, Gemini, Rhino, Bowser, and Snoopy. Stevie’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the family he deeply cherished.
