Sean Michael Royster

Sean’s Story The passage began on the cold, snowy day of March 9, 1976, when Sean was born in the District of Columbia, the first child of Donnell and Abigail Royster. Sean departed this life early on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his residence in Washington, D.C. Sean grew up in the District of Columbia where he graduated from Saint Augustine Catholic School(K-8) and matriculated to what was formerly known as Woodrow Wilson High School with the class of 1994. After high school, he attended the University of the District of Columbia and majored in Business Management. His first job while in college was as an Assistant Store Manager at a McDonald’s restaurant, which he enjoyed because he made his own money. He left there and was employed as a Store Manager at various retailers: Shoe City, Starbucks, CVS and Citi-Trends. Sean was a sports enthusiast. He was a diehard Washington (Redskins/Commanders) fan. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports, especially World Wrestling Entertainment. He made sure to record it if he was not available. Sean also enjoyed golf when Tiger Woods was playing, as well as collegiate and professional basketball and football. He kept abreast of the player’s statistics on each Washington team. Recently, Sean took an interest in soccer. He was an avid reader of the Sports section in the Washington Post. Sean was also a fanatic of GO-GO and Rap music. Music would emanate loudly from his cell phone. Most of all, Sean really loved his family and extended family. He always talked about his nieces Jazmin and Marcia; nephew Jaylen; and godchildren Taliya, Morgan and Megan. Sean’s life and the memory of his love will be forever treasured by his loving and devoted parents, Donnell and Abigail Royster; brother, Marcus Royster; nieces, Jazmin and Marcia Royster; nephew, Jaylen Royster; aunts, Avlyne Adams (USVI), Roselynda Harvey (Jessie) (NC), Melanie Thompson (NC), Shirlon Battle (Joseph) (NC), and Gladys Burgess (NC); uncles, Kelvin Adams (USVI) and Milton Royster (NC); great-aunts, Gwendolyn Meyers (USVI), Felecia Adams Brownlow (USVI), Evelyn Wills (VA), and Earlean Phipps (NC); great-uncles, John W. Adams (USVI) and Phillip W. Adams (USVI); godchildren, Taliya Wormley, and Morgan and Megan McClean; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
