Queen Ann Holliday

Queen Ann Holliday, age 87, of Washington, DC passed away at her home surrounded by family members on May 1, 2020. Queen was born on April 6, 1933, in Freemont, NC. She was the youngest of six children born to Benjamin and Elizabeth (née Crummedy) Green. Queen was raised in the Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She completed her educational studies in the North Carolina Public School system. Queen married Edwards Rogers in 1948. Her union to Edward produced three children; Rose, Carolyn and Victor, Sr. In 1963, Queen met fiancé George Stewart and their relationship produced three children; Gary, Antwyone, and LaShawn. In 1969, Queen married the love of her life, Frank Holliday, Jr. Their love endured over 42 years and produced two children; Deandre and Regina. The couple settled in Washington, DC where they raised their blended family. Queen was a dedicated and hard worker. She had several jobs, including Laundry Attendant at Washington Hospital Center where she retired. Though Queen excelled in work outside of the home, she believed her most important job was being a caregiver to her children and grandchildren. Queen was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to be “Grandma” to her thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Queen loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. Queen Holliday leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Rose Rogers (Kenneth), LaShawn Rogers, and Regina Holliday; step-daughter, Deloris Johnson; two sons, Victor Rogers, Sr. and Gary Rogers (Marguerite); thirteen grandchildren, Ericka Mckann, Crystal Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Chavonne Green, Victoria May, Shay Brown, Chele Rogers, Keith Holliday, Victor Rogers, Jr., Cheyanne Brown, Kayla Holliday, Delisha Lewis, and Brianna Holliday; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Rogers, Phoenix Brown, and Kace Winston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and loving friends. Queen was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth Green; husband, Frank Holliday, Jr.; brothers, George, Benjamin Jr., Robert, and Roselle; daughter, Carolyn Rogers; step-daughter, Ann Norfleet; daughter-in-law, Kim Rogers; and sons, Antwyone Rogers and Deandre Holliday.
