Pierre A. Stevens

Pierre Antonio “Tony” Stevens, born on December 10, 1962, in Washington, DC, entered eternal rest with grace and dignity. He was the beloved son of Sarah Bell and William Thomas Stevens, who raised him in the warmth of a Christian home. In his early years, Pierre found solace and purpose in his faith, becoming a member of Greater People Union Baptist Church, where he received the sacrament of baptism. Later in life, he continued his spiritual journey at Mt Ennon Baptist Church, contributing his time and dedication to the usher’s board. Educated in the District of Columbia Public School System, Pierre proudly graduated from Spingarn S.T.A.Y High School, marking the beginning of his journey into the workforce. Armed with a commercial driver's license, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a trash truck operator, dedicating the majority of his professional life to Bates Trucking Trash Removal and Waste Management. In his final employment with LAZ Parking, he served as a reliable shuttle bus driver for Washington Hospital Center, demonstrating his unwavering work ethic, punctuality, and dependability. Beyond his professional achievements, Pierre's greatest source of pride and joy was his role as a devoted father, affectionately known as “Girl’s Dad.” His special bond with each of his daughters was a testament to his commitment to providing guidance and instilling invaluable life values. A dedicated family man, he cherished moments spent with his daughters and grandchildren, ensuring they always felt loved and supported. Pierre was not only a loving father but also a steadfast friend, maintaining meaningful connections throughout his life. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, whose passion for the team brought joy and camaraderie. His vibrant spirit, filled with love, laughter, and happiness, made him a cherished member of his community. Known for his sense of humor, Pierre could always be counted on to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. Pierre was preceded in death by his loving parents and grandmother Cora Bell Robinson Tillery; Siblings: Samuel B. Tillery, William Savage, Craig Lorenzo Stevens, and Katie “Pinky” Savage. While we mourn his physical departure, we celebrate the legacy of a life well-lived. Pierre leaves behind a treasure trove of memories for his loved ones to hold dear. Blessed to cherish his memories are his children, Teneisha Pierra Nelson and Marvete Pierra Stevens; grandchildren: Jalin Nelson, Caiden Richardson, Samiyah Kelly, Ariyanna Kelly, Tyler Stevens, and Kyrie Stevens; Sister: Inez Stevens Djidonou (Maurice); Nephews: Kendrick Williams, Christopher and CeQue; Nieces: Yakinnia Savage, and Patrice (Princeton); and a host of aunts, uncles, and friends. May his laughter echo in our hearts, and may the love he shared continue to inspire us all.
