Ms. Patricia Ann Tracy

PATRICIA ANN TRACY was born on August 18, 1946, and peacefully departed this life on September 23, 2023. Born in Covington, VA to John Matthew Tracy, Sr., and Viola James Tracy, she was the fifth child of five children. The family moved to Lynchburg VA in 1949. She attended Lynchburg Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1964. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and graduated from Johnson Business School in 1968. After business school she worked various job in retail sales before obtaining a position as an Office Manager in the Moving and Storage business. She worked in the Moving & Storage business for more than 40 years. She began her career as an Office Manager and later became co-owner of Aaron’s Moving & Storage Company until the business closed in 2005. She was a certified Notary and a Member of the American Notary Society, Forestville Business Association, and the Arundel on the Bay Yacht Club. She loved computers, had a keen aptitude and was technologically literate. Self-taught, she was proficient in programming, building, and repairing computers. After her business closed, she worked as House Manager and Caregiver for her special cousin, Ophelia Thompson. Her faith was strong, she was kind and willing to help family members, friends, and others. She was a member of Greater First Baptist Church in Washington, D. C. She enjoyed working with technology devices, cooking, reading, watching nostalgic TV shows, listening to Blues, Jazz and Gospel music, shopping, and spending time with her family. She loved all her nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. She shared a special bond with her special cousins who were like Sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Eason, and Mrs. Ophelia Thompson. She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother and Four Siblings; John Matthew Tracy, Jr.; Arthur Tracy; Delores Tracy James and Vandelia Tracy Carter Pettus. She is survived by her nieces, Darlene Smith (Charles), Dr. Cynthia Carter, Mrs. Jean Baker (Randy), Mrs. Geraldine Lundy (Donald) and nephew Mr. Gary Tracy. She was preceded in death by her niece, Mrs. Pamela William and nephews, Mr. Ronald James, and Mr. Richard Carter. She is survived by her Great Nephews, Malcolm Smith and Devaughn Carroll and her Great Nieces, Ardala Johnson, Alina Wilder and Malinda Keyes. She was preceded in death by one Great Nephew, Damien Williams. Great-Grand Nieces Khari Smith, Kamiesha Carter, Janaye Pennix, Zania Wilder, Amaire Johnson, Adriel Johnson and Nephews Davon Cooper, Andre’ Wilson-Hall, Angelo Johnson survive her. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater First Baptist Church, 2701 13th St NW, Washington, D.C. 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
