Patricia C. Green

Our mother Patricia C D Green affectionately known as “Pat” was an only child, born the 21st day of September, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Lucinda Timmons Dennis. Mom was proceeded in death by our Dad, Rufus Alexander Green and Father, Emmitt Jerome Dennis. Mom married our Dad November 16, 1968 and through this union two sons were born, Russell Alexander and Brandon Webster Green who are left to cherish the fond memories of our mother Mom was baptized at Mt. Zion AME Church in Florence, SC. where she also attended Holmes Elementary School and Wilson High School in Florence, SC before moving to Washington, DC and later transferring to Roosevelt Senior High School where she received a four year scholarship for College. She attended Julliard School in New York City, and studied music theory and composition, piano, voice, and opera. Mom later moved back to DC and transferred to America University and earned a Teaching Degree. And began teaching music in the District of Columbia Public Schools, where she taught music for 32 years and retired in 2001. Simply put, Mom loved music. Mom love to sing, performing in numerous talent shows as well as singing in church and later singing Opera Professionally. Mom received numerous Honorariums and Certificates. She was an avid fighter for human rights and racial equality. Mom was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She participated in the March on Washington on August 28, 1963 and also marched and demonstrated in the early 60’s against racial injustice in the South. Patricia leaves two devoted sons Russell Alexander Green and Brandon Webster Green, Daughter in laws Andrea and Keisha. Grandsons, Brandon Jr., Dominick, Rynick, and Jordan. Brother–in-law Victor Green, and Sister–in-law Marlene Green. Cousin Stephanie Y. Smith and Bobby Smith, Sheila R. Brownlee, and Ouida Reynauld and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and lifelong friends.
