Margaret Louise Woods was born on Sunday, October 22, 1944, at the Old Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., to the late John and Effie Graves. She was raised in Capitol Heights, Maryland, a community she called home for her entire life. On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Margaret peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home. It brings her family peace to know she is now reunited with the love of her life (46yrs), Frank Woods, her sister Marie, and her faithful companion of thirteen years, her dog Judy, who preceded her in death by just one month. Margaret received her education through the Prince George’s County Public School System and graduated from Suitland High School in 1963. In 1966 she married Frank, and their union was blessed with her son David. Margaret worked at Kresge Department store candy counter in Washington DC. She later found her true calling as a homemaker following the birth of her son, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and maintaining a home filled with warmth and hospitality. A woman of deep devotion, Margaret was the heart of every family gathering. She made it a priority to be present for every major milestone, never missing, a birthday, Christmas, or a graduation celebration. Known for her immense generosity, she always arrived with thoughtful gifts and treats. Her coat pockets were a permanent treasure trove of candies and gum, ready to be shared with anyone she met. She extended this same love to her nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and friends, treating everyone as if they were her own kin. Margaret’s presence was a constant gift; she never waited for others to reach out first. Her frequent calls and the sweet voicemails she left just to check in —even when she hadn't heard from anyone—are memories her family will hold onto forever. She was known for her sharp humor and lively personality, often being the last to leave a gathering. There was never a dull moment in a conversation with Margaret, as her unpredictable wit and joyful spirit kept everyone around her smiling. In her daily life, Margaret enjoyed the simple pleasures of shopping, sipping a hot cup of coffee, and riding the Metro bus. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and many precious memories to be cherished by her surviving family. She is survived by siblings Doris, Lucy, and Kenny. Her memory will also be honored by her son David, daughter-in-law, Maureen Tebo-Woods; grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Juliana, and David Jr.; and greatgrandchildren, Giovanni and Serenity. She also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and friends, who will forever remember the warmth she brought into the world.
