Mabel J Wallace

We were all touched by this special lady, Mabel Wallace. She slipped away in the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, December 28, 2020,surrounded by her loving daughter and aide. Mabel Wallace was born February 28, 1922, in Edgefield SC. She was the second oldest of five children born to the late Charlie and Georgiana Jones.The family moved to the District of Columbia when Mabel was very young. Mabel received her formal education in the District of Columbia Public Schools. She provided personal and household care working for many wealthy families, such as the Washington philanthropist, David Lloyd Kreeger, founder of Arena Stage. Mabel had a genuine love for children and as a babysitter/nanny she provided the highest level of childcare so that parents could fulfill their personal or professional commitments. On April 18th, 1942, Mabel married the love of her life the late Wardell Neal Wallace. Their union was blessed with three children; twin son and daughter, Carl and Carlene, and daughter Denise. Mabel had a deep love for family, always sacrificing her needs and wants for those of family. To know her was to love her! To know her was to be positively influenced in some way by her life as a stalwart Christian. She had the gift of hospitality. Her home and heart were open to everyone. She welcomed to her table people from all walks of life and backgrounds. Love cures all. To all she would always say, "I love you twice" She was a superb cook, known for her freshly baked rolls, bread, pies and cobblers. Mabel was a devoted member of First Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 65 years. She was an earnest, sincere, believer and worker in the cause of the Lord. She always trusted the Lord, never complained, and supported the work of the Master. She was a member of the Eastern Region Federated King's Daughters, an organization of women, providing community and social services. Preceding her in death were her two children, Carl Wallace, and Denise Bryant, three sisters, Anne Lu Jones, Helen Gilliam, Cornelia Brown, one brother, John L Jones; and one nephew Dennis Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Carlene Wallace; daughter-in law, Jean Wallace; grandson, Sean Wallace, and granddaughter Karlynda Wallace and their mother, Linda; Dominick, Mila; niece Cynthia Burns, nephews, DuWayne Jones (Cecille) Douglas Jones (Cathy) and a host of extended family, loved ones and dear friends.
