Karen Jefferies

Karen Regina (Mitchell) Jefferies was born in Danville, Virginia on July 21, 1958 to Thomas and Madeline Mitchell. Karen lived on Barrett St. during her early years and she was educated in the Danville School District. She attended George Washington High School and played the flute in the marching band. After graduating from high school in 1976, Karen attended West Virginia State University and later transferred to Averett (College) now University in Danville, VA where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1984. During this time, Karen was also blessed with a son, Eric Lamont Mitchell-Griffith. Karen was employed by the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission as a Housing Specialist and retired after 20 years of service. She married the love of her life, Ronald Delano Jefferies on November 11, 2000, in Landover, MD. They lived and loved with the upmost commitment and promise. Karen and Ronald could always be found attending church together and traveling to different places. The couple celebrated her 50th birthday on the Carnival Cruise Ship to the Caribbean islands with family and close friends. Karen embraced the Lord at an early age and became a member of the Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Danville, VA. She was a faithful member of The Sanctuary at Kingdom Square until her health began to fail. Although Karen was not able to attend many church services regularly, she would have her tablet to watch the live stream service online. On Monday afternoon, November 28, 2022, God in His infinite wisdom, called His beloved child, Karen Regina Mitchell-Jefferies home to rest. Her parents, grandparents, Ernest and Alice Bass, and her husband, Ronald Delano Jefferies preceded her in death. Karen leaves to cherish her life, her son Eric (Tracy-fiancé) and his father, Jasper Perry Griffith III, daughter Yolanda, son, Wardell (Brandy), one brother, Wesley Mitchell, Waldorf, MD, one sister, Ann Mitchell-Bull(Fred) of Lawnside, NJ, 2 Aunts, Lola M. Bass, Philadelphia, PA and Jean Bass of Ewing, NJ, one great uncle, Joe Lovelace (Elke), Aurora, CO and 11 grandchildren, Phoenix, Carter and Skylar Griffith, Quanita Williams, Miracle and Monet Mabry, Jamia, Jaqwon, Jaylin, Jada and Jayden Jefferies, two great granddaughters, Laila Mabry and Leia Cloutterbuck, niece, Morgan Bull, nephews, Wesley, Jr. and Xavier and a host of cousins, family and many special friends.
