Gloria F. Logan

Gloria Ford Logan was born on June 6, 1934 to the late Percy and Ruby Ford in Baltimore, MD. She left this world to be with the Lord on April 23, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis N. Logan who died March 2, 2012 after 55 years of marriage. Gloria attended Baltimore City Public Schools and was a graduate of Coppin State Teachers College in 1956. She taught for a while in Baltimore until her marriage to Dennis N. Logan, April 14, 1957. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Dennis, Derek and David. Gloria resumed her teaching career in Washington, D.C., teaching at Benning School, Ruth K. Webb and spending the last 23 years at Stanton Elementary School before retiring on June 22, 1989. A devoted wife and mother, she was the bonding force of a loving and caring family. Home, church and community were the focal points in her life. Her kind heart and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her. As a resident of Hilcrest, S.E., Washington since 1965, Gloria was very active in her community. She and Dennis formed the Hilcrest Community Civic Association on their front lawn in August 1989. She served as a membership chair for 15 years and brought enrollment up to 385 households. She was also the co-founder of the Hilcrest Garden tours and served as Historian and Archivist. Gloria was active at precinct 110 as a poll worker, she served as block captain of the Neighborhood Watch program, she volunteered with the Meals on Wheels Program, and she was a member of AARP Chapter 3473 and The Washington Senior Wellness Center. As a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Gloria served as a former chairperson of the Pastoral Council 1989 and again on the council in 2018. She was also a Greeter, a member of the Caregivers, The Solidarity and a founding member of The Washington Interfaith Network. Gloria is survived by her three sons; Dennis of Glen Allen, VA, Derek of Gaithersburg, MD and David of Sterling, VA, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Brenda and Mary-Jo Logan. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
