Eshetu Karmichael Kassa

It is with deep sorrow that we perceive the passing of Eshetu Kassa, a beloved husband, father, and friend, on September 1st, 2024. Eshetu was born on August 8, 1956, in Nazareth, Ethiopia, Eshetu was the cherished son of Fantaye Beyene and Kassa Karamichael. He spent his early years in Nazareth and pursued his education at Atse Geladios School, where he developed a love for learning that would follow him throughout his life. Eshetu's dedication to his studies led him to Addis Ababa University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. His professional journey began at the Addis Goma Factory, where he served as a quality control administrator. He later joined Tiqur Abay Construction as accountant and administrative personnel, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence for a decade. In 1995, Eshetu moved to the United States, where he continued his career with Bank of America. He later joined Catholic Relief Services as a financial analyst, bringing his expertise and passion for service to a role that aligned with his values. Eshetu was known for his humility, hard work, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met; qualities that made him beloved by all ages. A devout Christian, Eshetu was a dedicated member of Mekane Selam Orthodox Tewahedo Church, where he served in various capacities. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he took great joy in contributing to the church community. He was also actively involved in social maheber, where he served as a treasurer, reflecting his commitment to helping others and fostering community. Eshetu was a loving husband to Hiywot Asfaw and a supportive father to Zerubabel Eshetu (Zebb), embodying honesty, integrity, and compassion in all aspects of his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life. Eshetu will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
