OBITUARY On April 8, 2026, David Reese peacefully transitioned home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. David Reese was born on June 13, 1943, in Mayfield, Georgia. He was one of fourteen children born to the late Charlie and Elsie Reese, and as a member of a set of triplets, he will be lovingly remembered as the 8th or 9th, and most mischievous child. David received his early education in the Hancock County School System, including Springfield School in Mayfield. In December 1957, he and his family relocated to Washington, D.C., where he continued his education in the D.C. Public School System. He attended Taft Junior High School and proudly graduated from McKinley High School. He completed many technical and college courses, including classes at Prince George’s Community College. David spent his early years in Washington, D.C., where he delivered newspapers, took on odd jobs and began crafting creative ideas for stories to tell for years to come. David proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Gordon in Georgia, before being stationed in Korea from 1964 – 1967. Following his time in the service, David’s career path led him through several roles, including time with an office supplies company, M.S. Ginns, before he found his professional home with the Department of Defense. David devoted 28 years to the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA)—now the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, including 23 years before retiring and continuing his expertise in a contracted support capacity for more than five years. David loved maps. David was known for being a self-taught handy man, always working on numerous house improvement “in-progress” projects. He often recruited (volun-told) support from his brothers, nephews, and grandsons. David was a “grill master” of ribs and chicken and a “fish-fry extraordinaire” serving delicious dishes to family, friends, and at many of his children’s school-related activities. He enjoyed watching sports, actively rooting for all Washington teams, including the Redskins, later the Commanders, the Bullets (Wizards) and the Nationals. David also loved participating in all kinds of sports. A self-declared at-home pool shark, he also played tennis, was a member of various basketball and softball teams, and participated in several bowling leagues. In 1975, at a house party in Mount Rainer, MD; David met Louisiana “Lou” Washington. David and Lou were joined in holy matrimony on July 1, 1977. From this union they welcomed three daughters, Alisa, Bernetta, and Berniece whom they adored. David lived an active life being a role model to many relatives and men that crossed his path. He cherished spending time with his family, supporting every extracurricular activity that his daughters and grandchildren participated in over the years. David lived a full and wonderful life. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Lou; daughters, Alisa (Amon) of Springdale, MD, Bernetta of MD, Berniece of Forestville, MD; six grandchildren: Donovan, Branaya, Bronson, Brent, Aria, and Ava; three brothers – Bobby (Arlene) of Lanham, MD; Clifford of Washington, D.C.; and Ernest (Joyce) of Adelphi, MD; two sisters – Betty Reese Handy (Walter) of Washington, D.C. and his (triplet) sister, Anne Reese Darius of Mount Rainer, MD and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
