Beatrice Boyd

Beatrice Boyd was born on July 8, 1934 in Saxe, Virginia to the late William McCargo Jr and Topsy Saunders. From William and Topsy’s union, she was 1 out of 10 children. Beatrice was called into eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at her home in Largo, MD. Beatrice graduated from high school in Charlotte County, Virginia. Shortly afterwards, Beatrice met the love of her life. On October 30, 1954, Beatrice married the late Emmett Boyd of 33 yrs. Both worked on tobacco farms in Saxe, Va and had higher aspirations for their future family. They migrated to Newark, New Jersey residing on Camden Street, Fairmont Ave, and later in a home on Abinger Place, Vailsburg section of Newark, NJ. From their union, They were blessed with Emmett “Skeet” Boyd Jr, Alise Michelle, and Anthony Jerome “Jerry”. Beatrice was employed and retired by the USPS Mail Bulk Center in Jersey City, NJ as Administrative Clerk. While she was employed, she was very active and remained close with her colleagues. After retirement, Beatrice enjoyed spending time with family and taking care of her grandchildren. In 2005, she relocated to Largo, Maryland to live with her daughter. Beatrice had a heart of gold. She was always warm and welcoming. In the neighborhood, she had an open door policy and strong sense of community. Beatrice was a woman of faith and a great counselor. Bring it to Bea, she didn’t care who you are or what your circumstances are. She was a good listener with great compassion for wanting the best for everyone.. Her best advice was to trust God, forgive yourself and maintain your joy. Beatrice found her greatest joy in simple pleasures such as playing Lotto, visiting Atlantic City casinos, attending theater shows, and over indulging in strawberry ice cream. Beatrice leaves to cherish her fond memories:1 sister-Shirley Ann King Two sons, Emmett “Skeet” Boyd Jr and Anthony Jerome Boyd (Keia); daughter Alise Michelle Rios (Edwin)Three grandchildren: Dishon Jabbar Alijenear Bussey, Jerome Boyd (Alyssia) India Rios, Four great grandchildren: Deborah Zharde’ Ailjnae Stewart, Zoe Boyd, Kallie Boyd, Zora Boyd and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives and many dear friends who will miss her dearly.
