Celebrating a Life of Life and Dedication It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Wright, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She departed peacefully on February 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Timeline of Her Life Barbara was born on April 29, 1950 in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was welcomed as the cherished daughter of the late James Robert Christian and the late Lydia Marian Christian. She is also the eldest sibling to James Robert Christian, Jr. and the late Evelyn Delores Christan too. Barbara grew up in a close-knit community, forming lifelong friendships and developing a passion for shopping and bargain hunting. Graduated from Western High School in 1968 (now known as Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts) and Federal City College (now known as the University of the District of Columbia), where she excelled in her studies. She shared a devoted marriage with Michael Wright, Sr. for more than 56 years, remaining together until her passing. Welcomed her children, Michael Wright, Jr. and LaTisha Wright (Lisier), instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance and compassion. Dedicated herself to her career as a Writer Editor/Program Analyst for 50 years in the Federal Government for the Department of Navy Bureau of Medicine, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. She was lovingly referred to as “The Legend.” For more than 45 years, she had been an active and dedicated member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Became a proud grandmother to Alicia Lisier (Ellick) and Lauren Lisiser, bringing joy and wisdom to another generation. Enjoyed retirement, spending time with family, attending community events, and shopping. On February 27, 2026, Barbara passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and generosity. The woman known as Barbara, Mommy, Mom, Grandma B, Big Sister B, Aunt Barbara, Soror Barbara Wright and the Legend will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Michael Wright, Sr., her two children Michael Wright, Jr. and a daughter LaTisha Lisier (Marcus), her two granddaughters Alicia Ellick (Demarion) and Lauren Lisier, one brother James R. Christian, Jr. , a niece Chantel Taylor (Clifford) and a nephew Rev. Andre D. Christian and many other cousins and relatives. She will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her influence will continue to inspire future generations. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
