Willie O'Neal Jones, Sr.

WILLIE O’NEAL JONES, SR. was born December 4, 1948, in Kilmarnock, Virginia to the late Willie Nataniel Jones and Mary E. Jackson. His spirit departed this earth on November 27, 2023. After moving to Baltimore with family, he was educated in the Baltimore City School System. In the 10th grade, he joined Job Corps and received his General Education Diploma, then Willie enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1970. Willie was married at the age of 17 to Marie Ford, and from that union 4 children were born, Wanda, Willie Jr., Wilburt Sr., and William. He was then married to the late Delores Jones for 9 years. He met Lydia White in March 1993 and they wed on June 20, 1998, and from that union Willie acquired stepdaughter Rene’ Angelique White. Willie worked in the electrical field for Westinghouse, Gould, Lockheed Martin and Nasa. He was an inspector and trainer which led him to starting his own business Quality Assurance Services. He was very instrumental in the formation and inspection of the United States space shuttle and other NASA projects. Willie had an intense love for antique cars. He purchased and rebuilt cars to their original condition. He was the President of Untouchables Classic of Maryland and a member of the club Game Changers. The car clubs frequently traveled to Ocean City to car shows and attended many parades. He frequently returned home to Kilmarnock where he had family members on his mom and dad’s side of the family and kept in touch with his uncle Earl who lived in St. Michaels (Eastern Shore). Willie was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother-in-law. He was a well-liked person and had lifelong friends that included, James Dixon, James Chase, Rodney Chavis, Carl Powell and Greg Frazier. He gave advice and provided solutions to family members and friends. Willie loved football, his favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens, and he was a long time Philadelphia Eagles fan. Frankie Beverly & Maze was his favorite musical artist and he enjoyed traveling to Hampton to attend the Jazz festivals. He loved to hunt and had a deep passion for fishing that he acquired from his mom. While working at NASA, Willie had the opportunity to travel to many states and other countries. Occasionally, Lydia would accompany him to Florida while working at the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Wille was preceded in death by Mary E. Jackson, Willie Nathaniel, Joyce Jones, Antoinette Bailey, Wilburt Sr., William Jones II, Warren Kelly Sr., and Richard Powell. Willie leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Lydia Rene’ Jones of 25 years; step-daughter, Rene’ Angelique White; daughters, Wanda and Ebony Jones; sons, Willie Jr. and William Sr.; sisters, Barbara Ann Kelly and Diana Barnes (Vernal Barnes); brother, James Jones (Phyllis Jones); uncles, Earl and Thornton (Abbey); grandkids, Andrea, Wilburt Jr., Willie III, Amber, Bria, Wylia, De’Andre, Aubree’ and Skylar; fourteen great-grandkids, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend.
