Robert Porter Miller Jr.

Robert Porter Miller Jr., the son of the late Robert P. Miller Sr. and Charlotte B. Poindexter was born on July 12, 1955 in Charleston, West Virginia. He went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Robert was educated in the West Virginia Public School System where he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1973. After graduating from high school, Robert enlisted into the United States Army where he served for 7 years and he was Honorably Discharged. During his enlistment, he studied to become a Physician’s Assistant, which would become his life long career. Robert continued his education and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Howard University. Robert “Bob” as he affectionately known by many colleagues, was an excellent health care provider and passionate about his patients, colleagues and everyone that he came in contact with. He would always make sure that his patients were properly informed about their health and well cared for. He would go above and beyond to ensure patient satisfaction. He held jobs at Franklin Square Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Wyman Park, VA Hospital, Union Memorial Baltimore City Jail, Howard County General Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital and Kaiser Permanente. Robert married his wife, Tesula Stweart on November 11, 2011. They shared many wonderful memories and loved each other dearly. Robert loved his family and friends. He had an amazingly big heart and would give selflessly without asking for anything in return. He loved family gatherings and spending quality time. He enjoyed watching basketball, football and listening to all genres of music. He also loved to dance. He joined a hand dancing class with his sister, Gwen and he truly developed a love for it. He was so excited to tell everyone about his completion and certificate that he received from the class. Robert truly loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. They were the joy and light of his life. “ GranDad”, as he was affectionately called by his grandbabies, loved going to the park and playing basketball with his grandkids. H enjoyed watching them run around and tiring themselves out so that they could get ice cream afterwards. He also enjoyed playing brain teaser games with them on the cellphone, just to get their skills up. If you knew Robert, you would know that man loved himself a nice juicy steak, fried chicken and steamed crabs. Every time he would take a bite he would say his famous line, “MMMmmmMMMmmmMMMmm, That Sure Is Good”. Preceding Robert in death are his mother & father, Charlotte & Robert Sr., one brother Curtis Brown, a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. To celebrate his homegoing and rejoice in his memory, Robert leaves to cherish: His wife, Tesula; Three daughters, Rozmyn, Amy, and Krysten; One stepson, Andrew; Two stepdaughters, Vera and Vanessa; Four grandchildren, Jacob, Kameira, Tanner, and Brayden; Four sisters Escola, Denyse, Gwendolyn and Jacquelyne; Two brothers, Earl and Henry; Five brothers-in law, Alonza, Rudolph, Fitzy, Noland and Edgar Jr.; Four sisters- in-law, Lillie “Diann”, Charmine, Juanita, and Iantie; One aunt Escola Barron, One Uncle David Miller. A host of many nieces, nephews and cousins; Loyal and Loving friends, Gail, Wanda, Patricia, Winsome, Ike and Karen. Robert will be missed by all who knew him, but wonderful memories and love will last forever.
