Apostle Linda Dennit Salisbury

LINDA D. SALISBURY was born in Berlin, MD, on July 23, 1950, to proud parents, Ruby, and Paul Lee Cherry Jr. She transitioned from mortality to immortality on November 23, 2023, after a brief illness. She was reared with three brothers and two sisters and began her education in the Worcester County School System. The family moved to Baltimore in 1963 where she continued her education and became a proud graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. Thereafter, she matriculated to Bowie State College where she majored in Elementary Education. Linda began her work life at Commercial Credit where she established her work ethic and commitment to excellence. Her next career move would be to join the staff at St. Vincent De Paul Head Start from which she would eventually retire as an Administrator. Linda married and became the mother of two sons, her first borne, Elijah Quindaryl, followed by Jeremy. Her sons were the apple of her eye. She cared for and loved them deeply, giving her all to assure they were provided for. As they grew, she remained their greatest cheerleader and confidante. From early childhood her faith was important to her. She shared fun times with her brothers and sisters as they portrayed the preachers and singers in church. Her times of play became a reality when in February 1972 Linda received the gift of the Holy Spirit. She joined the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Rosetta Pearson. She served in the capacity of Missionary, Jr. Church Mother, Evangelist, and the office of Assistant Pastor for several years. She answered the call of the Lord to Pastor in 1982 and founded, Prayer Power and Deliverance Tabernacle. Later, Pastor Salisbury was ordained to the office of an Overseer and established Prayer Power and Deliverance Church #2. Throughout the years she established ministries and affiliations to enhance her spiritual journey. She later joined Living by the Word Ministries where she served as Overseer, alongside Pastor Edward Harris. In 2023 she was ordained as an Apostle surrounded by family and friends. Linda was blessed to find love again through her marriage to David Salisbury. David filled the empty spaces in Linda’s heart, and they enjoyed their time together by watching their favorite sports team, the Baltimore Ravens, attending church, family gatherings, traveling and shopping. Linda and David were inseparable, and they parted only in death when David received his wings. Linda enjoyed attending functions with family and friends and was always the first to arrive at any event. She was proud to be a part of the “Posse”, an elite ministerial group of Sisters in Christ. Many of whom have preceded her in death. However, a non-profit organization was birthed by the Posse’s offspring called the “Posse’s Roar”, of which Linda was the Assistant Director. She loved the Lord and good foot stomping, drum beating, keyboard squealing, washboard scratching “deliverance services”, with that combination she would surely get her dance on. Linda will be missed by all who shared her company, experienced her humor, and felt the love that she freely shared with others. Left to cherish Linda’s memory are devoted mother, Ruby Boulware; two loving sons, Elijah Quindaryl Porter-Bey and Jeremy Porter; grandchildren, Jeremy Jr., Devin, Quryn & Zymirah; godson, Ernest Smalls Jr.; siblings, Bernice Simmons, Paul Cherry III (Chrysenia), Calvin Cherry (Robin), Clara Connor, Donte Boulware, Deborah Purnell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Cherry Jr. and brother Kastedera Cherry.
