Herman C. Mallory III

HERMAN CLARKE MALLORY III, affectionately known as “Little Clarke,” was born on June 19, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland to Herman Clarke Mallory Jr. and Marie Gray Mallory. He passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 67 in Baltimore, Maryland. Little Clarke attended Baltimore City Public Schools. From an early age, he distinguished himself, not only for his remarkable talent on the baseball field, where he earned the nickname “Big Mallory,” but also for his infectious charm and striking good looks. Little Clarke graduated from Walbrook High School, after which he attended UMBC, where he played his beloved sport, baseball, at the collegiate level. Little Clarke was the eldest of four siblings: Rochelle, Wayne, and Lori Mallory. He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Lori Mallory, and his devoted parents, Herman Clarke Mallory Jr. and Marie Gray Mallory. Little Clarke joyfully embraced fatherhood when he welcomed his beautiful daughter, Lillian, with his former wife, Barbara Mallory, in Baltimore, Maryland. Shortly after celebrating Lillian’s arrival, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps in 1981, where he was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. This exciting chapter of his life also brought the joy of two more children: Lynee Mallory (his Marine baby) and the lovable Herman Clarke Mallory IV, affectionately known as Brother! After an honorable discharge in 1984, he returned to Baltimore and transitioned to civilian life. Although his first marriage ended, Little Clarke maintained a strong and respectful relationship with Barbara throughout his life. He later remarried and found joy in playing the guitar and keyboard. Little Clarke devoted a significant amount of time to rehearsing, which brought everyone in the house together for wonderful family bonding moments. During Sunday service, he was front and center with his guitar at Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church. He immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was playing card games until the early hours of the morning or seizing a last-minute opportunity to grill before the weekend came to an end. He always made sure the family was close by. Little Clarke had a deep passion for working outdoors. In his earlier career, he sold door-to-door insurance and received numerous awards, trips, and accolades during his time at MCI Telecommunications. Unfortunately, his career came to an abrupt end due to an unforeseen accident in the cable installation industry. A man of action and adventure, Little Clarke developed a strong love for the water and became an avid scuba diver. On weekends, he could often be found f fishing or scuba diving in either Ocean City, Maryland, or Florida. He was known for his spirited personality, never far from a bottle of Jack Daniels, yet still capable of jogging five miles the next morning with ease. He lived with a boldness and stamina that amazed those around him. In addition to his three children Lillie, Lynee, and Brother, Little Clarke leaves behind a legacy that includes: eight grandchildren, Keenen Scott, Jalynn Moultrie, Khalil Mallory, Kimora Harrid, Skye Mallory, Nevaeh Taylor, Payton Mallory and Aidyn Mallory; his sister, Rochelle Mallory Bibbs (Caldwell Bibbs);,brother, Wayne Mallory (Claudia Mallory); as well as nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
