Gary Douglass Clements

GARY DOUGLAS CLEMENTS was born and raised in Baltimore City to the late William Clyde and Rosa Mae (Black) Clements on October 20, 1958 and departed this life on April 25, 2025. Gary had one sibling, his brother Alan, who preceded him in death. Gary accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at a young age. In his academic career, Gary graduated from Walbrook High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. Gary played the trumpet and was a member of the Walbrook Tower of Power Marching Band playing a range of music from Chicago to the Tower of Power. After college, Gary joined Alpha Phi Omega, a co educational national Greek lettered service organization, founded in 1925. His pledge line was fondly called the “Sensational Six”. Gary served the organization with dedicated service providing computer skills to men in the community. He was also a mentor to others throughout his professional career. After meeting the love of his life, he made Patricia A. Wilkes his bride on October 3, 1998. They created a beautiful home for themselves and invited the entire world into their home for countless celebrations. They hosted all kinds of events, New Year’s Day parties, holiday dinners, crab feasts, pool parties, football parties, enjoying a good cigar, cognac and a game of pool and Gary even hosted his high school reunion. He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. Gary began his career with private audio-visual companies working in Washinton, DC, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Vegas, Gary was an innovator utilizing water screen projection. For many of us this was the first time we saw such technology. In 1996, Gary landed the opportunity of a lifetime with the State Department as an audio-visual specialist managing conference venues for audio, visual and translation systems for world leaders. This position allowed him to travel the world with the Secretaries of State, and appointees of the White House traveling with presidents from Reagan to Biden. With Pat, they traveled throughout the United States. However, Gary traveled throughout the world to places such as China to see the pearl lady, Russia to find Fabergé’ eggs, India to purchase silk fabrics, and Thailand to obtain black pearls. He was always generous, but on a few occasions, he treated himself to a custom black silk suit in China, and a Russian fox hat. One friend called him “the human Google” and a “walking encyclopedia,” you could call upon Gary for any detail about almost anything. The one special anything was cars. Gary loved cars and owned so many different models that his garage looked like a showroom. His collection included sports cars, convertibles, trucks, and motorcycles. Since Gary traveled extensively, he knew the best deals, best places to stay and sights to see. When it came to dining, he was a connoisseur of food, beverages, and dessert and a great cook. This was one of the many reasons why Pat married him. Gary leaves to mourn his devoted wife Pat of nearly 27 years; an aunt Janice Black; two brothers-in-law, Howard and Barry Wilkes; one sister-in-law, Stacey Wilkes; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, friends, colleagues and fellow fraternity members
