Dorothy Nance

Dorothy Nance was born on March 5, 1921 on a Monday in Ohio to Bertha William and George Tunstall. Dorothy was the second oldest of eight children. She received her former education in Richmond, Virginia. In her early twenties she migrated to Baltimore, Maryland where she married Reverend James Edward Brown who preceded her in death. God blessed them with a son Kevin Brown. Dorothy loved God and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the early 1960's. During this union from 1966-1974 Reverend Brown and Dorothy pastored First Union Baptist Church in Ellicott City, Maryland. In 1975 Dorothy became a lifetime member of Friendship Baptist Church, being led by the Holy Ghost she join the choir. Dorothy was active and devoted member in the church choir for over forty five year. Singing in the choir was one of her greatest passions and a gift from God, she loved church and fellowship. In 1982 Dorothy married fer second husband Samuel Nance, who preceded her in death. Dorothy enjoyed teaching in Baltimore City Public Schools, for many years she worked with children of all ages. She loved children and the adolescent age group loved and respected her. She was an outgoing and friendly person who had never meant a stranger anywhere, as Cheers would say everybody knew her name. She was witty and approachable, strong ad courageous. She was a gentle soul and full of laughter. Dorothy enjoyed a good meal and desserts. She would meet with friends once a week at the mall and they would have a hearty meal and desserts celebrating and rejoicing with one another, she was a social butterfly. Dorothy was very independent and an avid walker. One of the most admirable things about her was her keen awareness of current events and the ability to discuss them up until the Lord took her home. Throughout her trials and tribulations Dorothy remained a faithful servant to the lord. Preceeding Dorothy in death, Parents Bertha William and George Tunstall, stepmother Caroline Tunstall. Sister Annie Lee Banks, Christine Ayes, Elizabeth Quarles, Brother Bernard Tunstall, Carl Tunstall William, James Tunstall, Frank Tunstall, Dorothy left to mourn and cherish her memories; her son Kevin Brown, sister Odeater Brown, niece Patricia Brooks and Kevin Brooks, a host of nieces and nephews. Her dear friends Blanche Gillard and Debbie Remnant and a host of friends and Friendships Baptist Church Family.
