Andrew L. Fowler

Andrew L. Fowler Sr. was born February 16, 1953, in Helena, Arkansas to the late Albert Fowler Sr. and Ida Bea Fowler. He was the oldest from that union of eight children with a total of twelve children. Andrew was baptized into Christ at an early age in 1968 at the Biscoe Church of Christ in Helena, Arkansas. He remained a member of the Church of Christ throughout his entire life up until his passing. On February 17, 1971, Andrew married his soulmate and partner for life Audrey Lorretta Townsend. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage as life partners. From this union, two children were born. The oldest being a daughter Angela L. Fowler, and a son Andrew L. Fowler Jr. now deceased. Andrew graduated from Central High School in West Helena, Arkansas in 1973 where he excelled and was also the President of his class. He was always ambitious, an over achiever, and never met a challenge he could not conquer head on. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 4, 1973, where he completed 26 years of service. While serving he was stationed at several places all over the world to include Arkansas, Texas, Taiwan, Kansas, California, and Alaska. Andrew began his career as an enlisted airman and diligently worked hard until he reached his goal of becoming a commissioned officer. Prior to getting his commission as an officer, he decided in March of 1979 to separate from the military, where he then worked for TIME DC Inc., which was the fourth largest trucking company at that time as a civilian. After only three months, he then decided to re-enter the Air Force in May 1979 as a SSgt. He met his goal of becoming a commissioned officer within three years. In 1980, Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree from Park College, Kansas City, MO. Then in 1984, he received his Master of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Webster University, St Louis, MO. In Oct 1981 he was an officer candidate at Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, TX. He completed Squadron Officer School in residence in 1988, Air Command and Staff College by seminar in 1995, and Armed Forces Staff College in residence in 1997. During his time in the military, he held numerous positions from being a missile launch officer combat crew commander, transportation squadron commander, and Commandant of Cadets and Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies just to name a few. He received many accolades and recognition on the highest levels while serving in the military. After a successful military career Andrew retired from the military March 1,1999 at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. After his military career he became an instructor and taught ROTC at Kenwood High School, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was totally dedicated and took immense pride in training and mentoring all his ROTC Cadets. Andrew was the epitome of a great leader. He always led by example and was well respected by many individuals as well as his cadets, students, and colleagues, he will be missed. He would later retire from this job also. In 2001, he became a member of the East Baltimore Church of Christ, in Baltimore, Maryland. While there he was a song leader which was something he loved to do, because he really liked to sing and praise God. In 2016, he and his wife moved to Georgia where he joined the Church of Christ at Bouldercrest in Atlanta, Georgia. Andrew continued to worship and attend services virtually even when his health was ailing and starting to decline. Despite his health, he never missed an opportunity to witness to others about the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He would share the word to anyone who would listen. He was a man of strong faith that always prayed and kept his faith and trust in God. Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Albert Fowler Sr.; his mother, Ida Bea Fowler; his brothers, Albert Fowler Jr.; John Fowler; Charles Fowler; and Verdell Fowler; his sisters, Katherine Randall; Cordelia Jacques; Gloria Ward; and Marie Smith; and his beloved son, Andrew Fowler, Jr. He leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory is his loving wife, Audrey Fowler of Georgia; his daughter, Angela Fowler of California; his sisters, Zetta Davis (Robert) of Georgia; Learn Fowler of Georgia; and Ella Dupar of Wisconsin; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Townsend of New York as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and former colleagues. Andrew was called home on June 6, 2022, where he was surrounded by loved ones. He was a wise man, a man of integrity, calm demeanor, infectious smile, well-liked by many, with a good heart, good personality, and a strong faith in God. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will forever live on.
